Freshman applicants must submit official secondary school mark sheets and diploma. Mailed documents must be originals or copies certified by the school principal or controller of examinations and sealed in a school envelope. Documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator. Official transcripts are also accepted by email if sent directly from the school principal or registrar. Students who do not meet minimum English proficiency requirements may apply for conditional admission, during which time they will need to be enrolled in an intensive English program, such as ISU's IEI program, in preparation for full-time academic study at ISU. Have graduated from a high school or secondary school with satisfactory grades, received a diploma or certificate of graduation, and be eligible for admission to a major university in the country from which they graduated. Have an estimated GPA of 2.25.

Encompassing the areas of leadership, advertising, and public relations, the Corporate Communications emphasis is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to succeed in a variety of fields, including: communications director, copywriter, Creative Director, digital advertising specialist,, publicist, event coordinator, fundraiser, government affairs, human resource manager, labor relations director, media planner/buyer, negotiator/mediator, personnel recruiter, sales executive, and sales representative. The advertising track exposes students to the full range of aspects of the advertising communication discipline. The Introduction to Advertising course addresses persuasive communication theory, industry practices, media effects, and career opportunities. In the Strategy and Copywriting course and the Media Planning and Buying courses, students learn about the creative side of advertising and the financial aspects of a 600 billion worldwide industry. Before they graduate, students experience a capstone course in advertising campaign development. Here, students produce a campaign for a real client, typically the owner of a local business.
