An updated official college transcript showing your bachelor's and/or master's work sent to the Graduate School.
An official copy of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) sent to the Graduate School.
A brief (1–2 pages) personal statement addressing the student's academic interest in political science, career objectives, and how their research interests fit the expertise of faculty and programs at WSU. This should be submitted to the Graduate School.
Three (3) letters of recommendation submitted to the Graduate School. Letters should come from people that can attest to your academic ability to succeed in a graduate program (i.e., professors).
An official copy of the TOEFL Examination (required for international students only). Please send directly to the Graduate School.
A writing sample submitted to the Graduate School Applicants for admission must have or anticipate receiving a bachelor's degree from an accredited school before the start of the semester for which they have applied to the Graduate School. Previous schools must be accredited by a recognized accreditation association. Applicants must have a 3.0 grade point Avg of graded undergraduate coursework, or from graded graduate coursework where there are 12 or more graded semester hours of graduate coursework taken after the bachelor's degree.

Master of Arts in Political Science Non Thesis in conjunction with certificate program is a terminal degree program designed to provide students with a specialized qualification better suited for the pursuit of professional careers in federal, state, or local government. The GJSS program targets students intending to pursue largely non-academic, governmental careers as practitioners, whether it be in the field of homeland security, law enforcement, or as analysts within the U.S. intelligence or defense communities. ll graduates will be able to: To prepare students to achieve their professional goals and prepare them to pursue professional careers. Students demonstrate professional skills such as creating high quality curriculum vitae, learning about theories of teaching, ethics associated with human subjects research and how to get published in disciplinary based journals. Students present original research in peer-reviewed journals or in conference papers given at regional and national professional association meetings. Students secure academic or professional employment commensurate with their education and career goals.
