A bachelor's degree with a major in music from an accredited institution.
Submission of an application, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.
At least a B average in all undergraduate music courses.
A 10-­minute demonstration of performance proficiency with classical repertoire in contrasting styles in the applicant's major medium, either by personal audition or recording.
Students whose first language is not English must submit TOEFL results of 80 or higher (iBT test), (for paper­based test: 550 or higher; for computer-­based test: 213 or higher), to be considered for admission.
An entrance recital of approximately 60 minutes duration for a faculty committee. This should include, recital lieder, art songs, and contemporary works displaying vocal proficiency in at least three languages.
All entering graduate students in the Master of Music degree program in vocal performance must take the Music Theory Placement Examination and the Music History Placement Examination.
Please prepare up to four contrasting pieces, no more than fifteen minutes. Three languages (one may be English) are expected, Italian is preferred.
This should include at least one Art song. You may also choose to include arias and musical theatre ballads, or operettas (such as Leonard Bernstein's Candide, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, or George Gershwin's Porgy & Bess )
Please ''slate'' your name, song title, and author of the work. (Example: My name is Emily Magenheimer, I will be singing ''O mio babbino caro'' from Pucinni's Gianni Schicchi). This submission must be within the last year. Please label any pre-recorded pieces with the date.
The minimally accepted graduate IELTS score is 6.5
