The Nursing Assistant-Certified (NAC) program offers preparation for immediate entry-level employment in long-term care and/or home health agencies as well as in hospitals. The program includes theory, skills lab and clinical hours in basic nursing care skills, body mechanics, personal care, communication, and interpersonal skills.This program is approved by the Washington State Department of Health as a Nursing Assistant Training program. Nursing Assistant students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the Washington State Nursing Assistant certification examination.Successful graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Examination to obtain state certification in Washington. This program also has an I-BEST option.Demonstrate basic technical skills that facilitate a safe and optimal level of functioning for the client, recognizing individual, cultural, and religious/faith-based diversity.Demonstrate behavior that maintains and respects client's rights and promotes client's independence, regardless of race, religion, life-style, sexual orientation, disease process or ability to pay.Demonstrate knowledge of and be responsive to the laws and regulations which affect his/her practice including but not limited to, patient abuse and neglect, patient complaint procedures, the workers right to know and the Uniform Disciplinary Act.
