Freshman applicants must submit official secondary school mark sheets and diploma. All documents must be originals or copies certified by the school principal or controller of examinations and sealed in a school envelope. Documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator. If your first language is not English, official English proficiency scores must be submitted directly to the International Programs Office from the testing center. To be considered for admission to ISU, international students applying as new undergraduates must meet the following academic requirements:
Have graduated from a high school or secondary school with satisfactory grades, received a diploma or certificate of graduation, and be eligible for admission to a major university in the country from which they graduated.
Have at least a 2.25 GPA.
TOEFL iBT: 61, Paper: 500, Computer: 173, IELTS- 5.5 overall score OR a minimum 5.0 in ALL subscores

Students may be admitted to the program after having completed 64 credit hours. Application for admission must be made to the Chemistry Department. The combined B.S./M.S. program is designed to enable students to attain both a B.S. and an M.S. in a five year time frame. This program allows the student to receive the ACS-certified Bachelor of Science degree and the Master of Science degree at the end of the fifth year. Students may apply as sophomores for this program and can be admitted into the program at the beginning of their junior year. The department offers a Master of Science degree as well for individuals who already possess a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. To gain a well-rounded knowledge of the basic fields of the discipline. To develop an understanding of how chemists think, gather evidence, process data, and reach tentative conclusions. To think critically about experimental observations and theories. To develop effective oral and written communication skills. To engage in problem solving. To prepare for a career or profession after graduation in the field of chemistry either as an educator or in industry. To be able to competitively pursue a health-related advanced professional degree.
