A completed online application for Graduate Admission with appropriate fees,
An official copy of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores,
Official transcripts of all higher education institutions attended,
Three letters of reference attesting to the applicant's ability to succeed in doctoral study,
A current resume/vitae,
A statement that sets forth the applicant's research interests and career goals and relates these goals to the completion of the PhD Program in Higher Education,
A writing sample illustrating research skills (such as a thesis, journal article, paper submitted for academic credit, etc.).
Additional Requirements:
International graduate student applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A total score of 80 on the iBT TOEFL or 6.5 overall on the IELTS. PBT- 550

Our program culminating in the Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education is designed to provide the opportunity for students to enhance analytical and research skills for leadership roles in institutions of higher education. <br>FIU's Higher Education PhD program explores postsecondary education from multiple disciplinary lenses and from theoretical and applied perspectives. Students learn alongside faculty who examine the broader ecology of social institutions and sociopolitical contexts shaping postsecondary education. They consider the ecological factors that further the marginalization and disenfranchisement of certain populations-as well as the educational policies and practices that create meaningful access and inclusion. This shared inquiry develops within the context of a Hispanic-Serving Institution and the diverse setting of South Florida.
