The BA in Geography educates students in the study of the spatial patterns of human interactions with natural and built environments. Geography includes regional studies, and many students become experts in Latin America, Asia, Africa, or other world regions. Students acquire a global perspective and valuable skills including social survey techniques, ethnography, social statistical sampling methods, computerized social data analysis, and computer-based mapping of social phenomena. This degree-specific program combines the rigorous requirements of the Geography B.A. program with content-specific pedagogy to prepare students interested in teaching Social Studies at the secondary level. The Geography B.A. with Social Studies Education major offers a degree in the discipline with multiple field experiences in diverse classroom settings and culminates in a full-time teaching internship.
